Al-Ula club’s female lifters snatched the cup of the women’s qualifying championship in the senior category with a total of 779 points; Al-Ittihad came second with 755 points, Al-Salam third with 710 points, Jeddah fourth with 518 points, Al-Hilal fifth with 490 points, Al-Tihami sixth with 489 points, Al-Wahda seventh with 391 points, Al-Yarmouk eighth with 183 points, and Al-Nour ninth with 177 points.
In the under-20 category competitions
A new force emerged in women’s weightlifting as Al-Tihami club drew all eyes, its female lifters seizing 681 points, just 8 points behind the qualifying champion Al-Ittihad, which snatched the under-20 category cup with a total of 689 points
Al-Yarmouk came third with 425 points, Jeddah fourth with 244 points, Al-Nour fifth with 159 points, and Al-Wahda sixth with 75 points,
The championship competitions concluded — having witnessed a large crowd and the encouragement of families for their daughters in this championship in which more than 100 female lifters representing 9 clubs took part (Al-Ula – Al-Ittihad – Al-Hilal – Al-Tihami – Al-Wahda – Al-Yarmouk – Al-Salam – Jeddah) — on Saturday evening at the sports hall of the University of Science and Technology in Jeddah, over two days. At the close of the competitions, the president of the Saudi Weightlifting Federation board Mr. Mohammed Al-Harbi, board member Dr. Ahmed Al-Omari, the federation’s executive director Mr. Khalid Al-Ruhaili and the sports-games director at Jeddah Sports Club Mrs. Halimah Kuli crowned the championship winners. Al-Harbi also thanked the University of Science and Technology in Jeddah and the sports-hall management for their cooperation in making the championship a success and providing every resource for its distinction.
